When liberal Brian Williams got busted lying about his near death war correspondent helicopter shoot down adventure, he got whacked hard. He's now on 6 months unpaid leave and we will never hear from him again. He has lost all credibility and thus needs to go find work elsewhere (or just retire since he has been so overpaid for so long already).
However, when Bill O'Reilly (perceived conservative) was placed under similar attack, the protective shield of conservative-leaning public opinion rallied around him to skyrocket his ratings. Even after admitting that he stretched the truth, his book isn't pulled from the shelves and Fox is not disavowing him. Folks, you can't make this stuff up. The herd has now put on its "conservatives can do no wrong" blinders. O'Reilly is going to get a pass on this one because he is a perceived conservative. Of course, lying is not conservative behavior and being caught in this kind of self aggrandizing boastful lie shows that underneath he is just another Hollywood liberal putting on a show for the cameras.
While this individual event is trivial in and of itself, the massive difference between how these two liars were treated by the herd sends out a massive signal. Liberal dems will pick up on it very quickly and they will begin to find conservative cover to hide behind. They will distance themselves from Hillary even as she herself tries to re-invent her image with a conservative slant. She has not begun this process so I am not predicting the extension of an existing trend. I simply know that she has no real convictions save those that help her acquire and retain power. I know she is intelligent in a conniving sort of way. I know that she can read the writing on the wall and that she is going to try to adapt.
I am firm in my model that Hillary is beyond the limits of recovery. She cannot change her spots enough to fool the conservative movement. It is, in fact, progressing faster than her image can change. Her legacy is a boat anchor around her corrupt little neck.
Bye bye Hillary.
