The left goes around telling the lie that "all the scientists agree with us", "follow the science", "science denier" and the like. Of course anything the left says is a lie and/or propaganda so it pays to wait for the truth to come out. And so the truth is coming out. Please read The Rome Declaration which now has 6700 signatories. These people have stood up and added their names in a public forum, refusing to hide behind a group/mob. For me it was easy to do this but I recognize that my career doesn't depend on it. But their careers certainly might be at risk for outing themselves like this and so I take their actions as a charity to the rest of humanity.
What this declaration says is basically that the medical community is declaring their independence from political forces whose goals have nothing to do with patient outcome and everything to do with political gamesmanship. The main points of this declaration are reprinted below with my comments in red.
RESOLVED, that the physician-patient relationship must be restored. The very heart of medicine is this relationship, which allows physicians to best understand their patients and their illnesses, to formulate treatments that give the best chance for success, while the patient is an active participant in their care.
In other words, the government has tried to take control of what has typically been a private relationship between patient and doctor and that the old standard and precedent needs to be restored, thus kicking government out of the decision making process for individual health care.
RESOLVED, that the political intrusion into the practice of medicine and the physician/patient relationship must end. Physicians, and all health care providers, must be free to practice the art and science of medicine without fear of retribution, censorship, slander, or disciplinary action, including possible loss of licensure and hospital privileges, loss of insurance contracts and interference from government entities and organizations – which further prevent us from caring for patients in need. More than ever, the right and ability to exchange objective scientific findings, which further our understanding of disease, must be protected.
This clearly addresses the government's corrupt attempt to not only take control of physician/patient relationship but also touches upon the tactics being employed whereby medical professionals face career ending outcomes if they speak out against government tyranny and also whereby government is actively engaged in censorship and disruption of the free flow of information upon which good science is based.
RESOLVED, that physicians must defend their right to prescribe treatment, observing the tenet FIRST, DO NO HARM. Physicians shall not be restricted from prescribing safe and effective treatments. These restrictions continue to cause unnecessary sickness and death. The rights of patients, after being fully informed about the risks and benefits of each option, must be restored to receive those treatments.
This basically says that physicians cannot hide behind government mandates in the provision of treatment and that regardless of what government says, the first priority is their Hippocratic oath to do no harm. Government is trying to turn this into a hypocritical oath in the belief that nobody will notice or oppose them on this. To that I say, Fuck Joe Biden.
RESOLVED, that we invite physicians of the world and all health care providers to join us in this noble cause as we endeavor to restore trust, integrity and professionalism to the practice of medicine.
This is an admission that the medical profession has taken a head shot in terms of public trust and that the profession must come together as a whole in order to restore this broken trust. And soon. Or else.
RESOLVED, that we invite the scientists of the world, who are skilled in biomedical research and uphold the highest ethical and moral standards, to insist on their ability to conduct and publish objective, empirical research without fear of reprisal upon their careers, reputations and livelihoods.
This essentially tells medical professionals to Be Brave. It does not say that they will be able to live without fear of reprisal upon their careers. It only says that they should "insist" that they be allowed to do the right thing without reprisal.
RESOLVED, that we invite patients, who believe in the importance of the physician-patient relationship and the ability to be active participants in their care, to demand access to science-based medical care.
This simply tells patients to not blindly follow government edicts and then cry like little babies when it doesn't work out for them. Patients must agree to treatments and it is on them to understand what the doctor is saying and doing and to act in their own personal self interest when it comes to treatment options.
In short, this declaration is the first major declaration of independence of government take over of everything. That is why it is so important. This is bigger than just medicine. A very similar declaration could be used for almost every aspect of life for a free population. In essence it tells big government, "out, damned spot".
Things often have to get extreme before real change can be made. We are watching history unfold before our very eyes.
