Armed with nothing but statements and suspicions pulled from thin air, the corrupt California government allowed the fuckhead FBI to break into a private safe deposit box facility and confiscated $86 million in cash and goods. The scam is of course simple:
"We have guns. We took your stuff. We made up reasons why we think it was OK to do so. Our dogs are trained to "alert" upon command. We can make them alert on your baby's dirty diaper if we want to. We are playing a numbers game here. Some larger percentage of the goods will never be reclaimed for whatever reason. We will make anyone with the ability to take us to court do so and then if they can prove where the goods came from we will begrudgingly give it back to them.
All this will be on a case by case basis. If you ask for your stuff back, don't be surprised if we begin to harass you because of course we know where you live and who you are. If you want your stuff back, be prepared to invest many thousands of dollars in legal representation. And if you win, we just give the stuff back. No apology, no interest, no penalties, no nothing. Here's your shit back, thanks for playing. No feedback loop that forces us to be more careful next time. None.
In fact, just the opposite. We already have models that say 35% of the loot will never be contested by the rightful owners. In most cases it will be because if we stole $5k from you then you will have to spend $5k to get it back along with your time and then of course we will be sure to ticket you 3-4 times per year every year and we will find other ways to punish you. We might even invent a SWAT call against you in the middle of the night. Is $5k worth all that? We thought not."
