Idiot ship commanders get the book thrown at them.

I recently commented on the collision between USS Fitzgerald and the container ship ACX Crystal wherein I immediately pointed out that the Fitzgerald was at fault based simply on my understanding of the so called maritime rules of the road which dictate who has the right of way in a boat.  After the Commander and XO were relieved from duty I also commented that the military was going to throw them under the bus and make them fully accountable for their actions (or lack thereof).

Today we find that my view on this matter was correct as the ex commanders of the Fitzgerald were criminally charged with very severe severe charges including, "dereliction of duty, hazarding a vessel and negligent homicide.".  Since it is still early in the return to conservatism I do not expect all of these charges to stick but the message is being clearly sent: the top brass has stopped running interference for negligent underlings.  The "shield" of being protected by government simply because you work for the government is in full collapse.  This will be true for police, fire, politicians, military, you name it.  The system is now fully aware that everything is being watched and scrutinized by the herd for fairness.

The conservative sleeper has a awakened and it is going to go badly for all things liberal.
