A recent headline confirmed what I strongly believed would be the case: the initial headline -1% growth would be revised downward. I was expected it to go down to -2% but in fact it went down to -2.9%.
But don't worry, folks, that same article from the same people who missed the bad Q1 number in the first place are telling us that the economy "is growing again". Sorry, but I call bullshit. This is like saying wave two back up is "growth" when wave 1 down already set the tone for the next 18 months or more.
The reason is simple: the middle class is collapsing in the face of the peaking of the credit bubble. As long as government tries to support everyone who has decided to take an extended welfare holiday instead of working 2 part time crap ass jobs, the numbers will only get worse. Then, once the government's ability to support everyone collapses the numbers will get a LOT worse. Only after the people STOP counting on government to "do something" and instead begin again to do for themselves will things get better.
The analogy between credit based growth/prosperity and G23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate (AKA "Pax") will emerge as truth. Most of the people will succumb to it and it will kill them economically. But for a small percentage it will have the opposite effect. These are the people that we will all have to BOLO for. The federation is gearing up to protect itself from Reavers but the rest of us need to make our own plans because we are not insiders.
I just love movie analogies.

It's actually rather typical: the statistics have been massaged so much that even the masseuses have no choice other than believe them, as they cannot recognize what they say anymore; but face must be saved, lest their scalp perish.
Furthermore, it sets the mood to the script: with the "unemployment" (or whatever) rate falling, "inflation" rate small, low basic "interest" rates, nobody saw the GDP falling, itself a highly massaged figure devoid of any meaning.
The criminals that run this state or any state may not be stupid, but they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed either. Don't believe their propaganda about themselves; Elliott Ness got lucky and Edgar Hoover was a sissy. They're actually made up by the same people who sign up to work at the DMV or at the post office. Not because they are qualified, but because they're unable to qualify and hold any productive activity. All their qualifications are graft and a mealy mouth.
