The decline of NFL has begun.

Nobody except me has predicted well in advance that peak NFL has arrived.  My reasons for expressing this view were made very clear: football is destructive blood sport which is more suited to liberal societies whereas more conservative leaning people will tend toward sports which conserve the human body better.  That is not to say you certainly will not get hurt playing soccer but it is saying that the main goal of soccer is not to hurt you.  This cannot be said about American football, a sport which I never had any love for.

Even more recently I noted that the coming decline of football was being heralded by the awakening of the sheeple to the long term damage that frequent impacts to the body are bound to inflict.  Here is a post from August last year which clearly pointed this out.   And another one from earlier in 2018.

Well today what once was been visible only to those with exceptional perception is now mainstream in your face because we now have a sitting president who is also the father of a son who is now publicly saying he will steer his son away from American football because of the dangers of it.  This is completely without precedent.  This is not Trump leading anything by the way.  Trump is a performance artist, a showman, and a good showman knows what his audience wants and he gives it to them.  Politicians are nothing more than reflections of what the herd is thinking and doing.  Trumps comments are not his own thinking.  He is just herding with the herd and the herd is now migrating away from liberal bloodsports like football.

At the same time, trumps comments reinforce the herd and will likely quicken the pace.  Football sponsorship will wane and that is where the money comes from to keep it alive and strong.  As the money wanes I expect to see some high profile defections.

Yes I know this sounds as ridiculous today as it did when I first floated this idea back in late 2017 in this post.  But it only sounds ridiculous until it comes true and then everyone who was silent before steps forward and says "oh yeah, it was obvious".  You know, just like all those people who came out after Hillary lost and tried to act like they saw it coming.

I don't know about you, but when I find someone who is repeatedly correct about future outcomes, especially when such outcomes seem unlikely to me, I pay more attention to them than pretty much everyone else.  The reason for this is that their success suggests their world view is correct and that is a pretty powerful thing to have in your corner.

In fact, it is liberal behavior to value someone based on no achievement while conservatives tend to value those with demonstrated track records.  I guess that's why Obama got  the Nobel Peace Prize even before he had done anything in office.  That shark jump moment was  a stain on the track record for that organization and I doubt they will repeat it again in my lifetime.
