Gun free zones are obvious choices for massacres

As I have written so many times before, outsourcing your security to a police force that demands a monopoly on the service is just stupid and dangerous.  Why?  Because I can carry a firearm to protect myself in real time but I cannot carry a cop.  Why should my life have to be subjected to 8 minutes of terror (or however long the response time turns out to be) simply because some ass somewhere decided that I must use police services for all my security needs.  Does it not begin to smell like a mafia style protection racket?

I have discussed in these pages and on many occasions the need for teachers to be first trained and tested to be proficient and then allow them to be armed in the classroom and anywhere on school grounds.  This of course was seen as a radical "gun nut" viewpoint by the left even though it only stands to reason that criminals are drawn toward attacking weakness, not strength and also that police response time is not short enough to stop a killer from taking down dozens of victims.

But with the shift in all things to the right, including our political leaders, we are now seeing these same common sense ideas being brought up and defended by out top politicians.  In this case, Trump himself suggests getting rid of the no gun zone for teachers, that teachers receive special training and that not all teachers would be required to participate.  He suggested that 20% of them would be enough to put down a school shooting quickly.

Well, he's right.  And I'll tell you what else:  The teachers selected for this should be revolving so that criminals do not get to know who of them is carrying and who is not.  The gun they have should be state property, paid for and owned and controlled by the state; teachers should get them on loan at no cost and they should be given a training budget for ammo and range fees and the requirement to prove proficiency 1x per month.  The teachers who are carrying guns on a given day must not tell any students about the gun.  They must not answer questions about the gun or engage in distracting conversation about them.  Designated Protectors must wear the gun on their hip at all times, never put it in a drawer, etc.  The gun must be concealed when worn on school grounds (for now.  Later, in a few years, open carry will be OK).  Teachers should also be given CCTV feeds of the hallways to their cell phones.  CCTV cameras are dirt cheap these days so there is no reason not to give this advantage to the teacher.

There are many proactive things that could be done to tip the odds in the favor of students and teachers against murderous malcontents.  None of those things involve running and hiding or living in fear and all of them require that the teachers be capable of fighting off an armed assailant.

I bet liberals are pissed to see Trump mentioning these things.  The only problem is that they cannot debate the truth of his reasoning. He's taken the emotion out of it and turned it into a business decision, a logical train of thought that not even an emotional liberal can argue with.
