It's a scam designed to hide the fact that government is running a Debt Ponzi and that they do not have the money to pay off claims of the retiring boomers. So they need to find a patsy to do it for them and that patsy, they hoped, would be younger stronger workers who can pay taxes, pay social security for themselves and also pay for social security for the boomers since GOVERNMENT ALREADY STOLE ALL THEIR RETIREMENT DOUGH. That's right stole. As in criminal corruption of the highest order. The boomers did NOTHING to stop this corrupt government from playing their games. Now that they have f-ed it all up for the younger generation, only a fool would bail them out. Let it collapse and let America's best generation go after the government on their own.
Besides, the insurance companies already know it is not going to work. They know there are not enough well paid, fully employed young people to fleece. The middle class is breaking down and there literally aren't enough people left to screw in order to help government meet all of their over the top commitments to the boomers. Bottom line: don't sign up willingly. Wait them out. Without your money in their hands, the scam collapses and gets repealed under its own corrupt weight in a matter of 6-12 months. Besides, they will steal or lose all of your personal information anyway. The ACA website is on the record saying that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding any info stored or transmitted through the ACA web site.

GREAT question. I never said that people should not have or not manage their own medical care. I only said that patriots will cut the government out of the loop.
There was paid medical care for people before socialism and there will be paid medical care for people after socialism self destructs. Obamacare is socialist medicine program which aims toward a single payer system with all transactions going through inept, arrogant, abusive, incompetent, greedy, usurious government. It is a transfer program with government taking a piece of every transaction (whether or not you understand how that transfer works).
I'm not suggesting that you said this or even implied the following with your polite question. However, there will be those out there (again, not necessarily you) who assume that someone who eschews Obamacare in all forms is a freeloader on society who has no means or plan for self-directed medical care. To those people I will say in advance that this is an uninformed, fallacious argument.
Obamacare seeks to have younger, stronger workers subsidize the medical care of older, weaker workers as well as all of the lowest caste of US society including illegal immigrants. Government made un-keepable promises to boomers regarding social security and medicare/medicaid. They also desire to buy the votes of the poor. So now they are looking for patsies to pay not only for the older people whose premiums by all rights should go exponential with risk, but also for 40 million low level workers who could never afford medical insurance in the first place. All this will do is break the already strained backs of the middle class leaving government more powerful, more able to put its boot heel into the necks of the people. This is a foolish, unpatriotic thing for people to do and it will lead to a far worse situation than we have right now. It will tear this country apart.
Instead, go get your own private insurance if that is what you want to do. No need to sign up with the government or to have the government get you something for nothing. Depending on your needs you can either sign up for the "I have the sniffles and so do my 3 kids so I'll be going to the doctor plan" (i.e. low deductible, high cost) or at the other extreme "I've never been sick a day in my life but I could get in a bad car wreck or get cancer and need $100-200k worth of unexpected medical care" plan (which hosts a 10k deductible that you have already saved in the bank).
There are also doctors who will let you pay them $75 a month to be your physician come rain or shine and if you get hurt then all your services are covered except lab tests and supplies (which they give you a good rate on). This is like paying an insurance premium with a deductible.
There are literally hundreds of responsible ways to manage one's own heath care at far lower cost than what ACA is demanding. There is even the "I'll take my chances" plan in which case the person should receive minimal treatment for pain in case of medical catastrophe. Freedom includes the right to make mistakes as long as you alone will be paying for them.
But to assume that government control of healthcare is the only solution or even a good solution is really childish. I mean, look, they spent how many millions on just the stupid website??? According to Wiki, the UN says that $4.4 billion is the total GDP of Mauritania, a country of some 3.3 million people. Do we really think that some web sites for health care are worth the entire productive output of 3.3 million people no matter who they might be or where they might live? I sure don't. Yet our government is spending it.
Government ruins everything it touches. It lives by debt and so no price is too high to pay. That is the Keynesian way. It is a scam. I continue to assert that patriots will not participate in this scam. It is best left to sheeple and fools and patsies.
