Texas governor Greg Abbot gives credit where due

For the past 30 years or more the liberal establishment has been positioning government as a monopoly on safety.  Like any union, they swarmed like hornets when anyone would take personal responsibility for their own safety and that of their families, friends and property.  Anyone who had the audacity of killing the intruder before he could kill loved ones had to run a gauntlet of legal bullshit after the fact that would serve as a loudly shouted message to the herd: you are better taking your chances running away and hoping a bullet doesn't find you because if you fight back then we are going to crucify you in the press and in the legal system.  We are going to charge you with crimes and we are going to jail you.  And we won't stop the guy you shot in self defense from suing you either.  In fact we applaud it because we the state want a monopoly on safety so that we can charge whatever price we want for police protection.

It was and still is more like a protection racket than real police protection.  Think about it.  Do you have a greater chance of being carelessly gunned down by government police or by al-quaida?  Each time a cowardly government cop is near me I see him as a potential loose cannon with a gun.  He's loose and careless because his actions are protected by the "blue shield".  That's how the liberals like it because they buy these thugs and everyone else becomes the victims.

But as more conservative minds take over I predicted that the police would fade, their badges as tarnished as their worn out reputation for corruption, abuse and carelessness with peoples lives.  Such a change does not happen overnight.  The herd must be re-educated.  And re-education of the herd is done with messages from people in authority.  When the LT. in charge of the squad says we are going in this direction, pick up your packs and move, the troops move.  Following orders becomes the easy thing to do.  Herd control is no different.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is sending such a message with his recent award of the Texas Governor's Medal of Courage to a man who shot it out (that link has the unedited vid if you watch their ad for guns sales first...) with a murderous church gunman and won.  This award is very significant and I applaud Abbot for doing it even though this kind of thing was essentially predicted by me as the natural order of things to come. In other words, Abbott is really just reading the herd well and he's sensing that people want to re-take control of their own security.  They don't want to fear lawsuits for acting in well placed self defense.

I'm not talking about spraying the front door in a crowded apartment complex with sub-machine gun fire if someone knocks on the door after midnight.  I am talking about controlled force being applied when it is clearly called for and as a last measure.  You know, like that which Jack Wilson in the vid showed.  One shot, one kill.  Without Wilson there the gunmen would have had a field day on church members.

If you want an example of what NOT to do, look at the cops. They will go into a crowded mall and then fire 10s of rounds in order to get their man.  Forget the fact that they are putting others at mortal risk.  The cops just don't give a shit.  But individuals give a shit mainly because they know if they kill someone's kid by accident while attempting self defense, they will not be held harmless.  The cops, however, expect to be held completely harmless no matter how careless they are.

Well the herd is getting tired of it and so this shit is going to stop.  In this case I suspect that the most important aspect of the situation has gone unnoticed by most.  I'm not talking about the obvious fact that the governor is treating a civilian like a military hero.  That much is obvious.  Less obvious is the fact this the "hero" wasn't just some guy who happened to be packing heat.  No, this guy was part of a designated volunteer security forceHe was doing for free what the cops want to charge big money for.  Uber and Lyft ruined the monopoly on public transportation that taxis once held.  And as a result, taxis are dying.  Their business model is too expensive and it required monopoly status to work.  So now the taxicabs are just getting older and stinkier and still 30+% more than UberLyft even after the tip.

This is what is going to happen to the cops as well.  People are going to increasingly count on their own security forces, and in many cases it will be volunteer as a service to the group.  This will decrease the demand for pricey cops and their pensions will just get more and more underfunded.  Police will become the stinky cab of the future, a second class, second rate service which they almost begged to become through their carelessness for their masters, the people, and their corruption and lawlessness.

So again, the big news here isn't the awarding of this medal and honors to one man.  The big news is that it shone the light of acceptance on the whole notion of self-organized security.  Conservatives are self sufficient.  Liberals think it takes a villages to tie your shoe.  Of course they fail to inform you that they plan to tax you in a ridiculous, no opt out fashion for their "service".  Conservatives think good fences make good neighbors.  The award was really an award for conservatism and rugged individualism and self organization more than for shooting a murderous fuck.
