This is a pretty funny revelation from an ex cabinet minister from The Bahamas and told in this interview. The man being interviewed is Duane Sands who used to be the minister of health under Prime Minister Minnis. Sands used his political position to violate the Covid lockdown rules that his office put in place. The article also calls out the fact that the 6 people he allowed to enter the Bahamas illegally were "permanent residents". In the Bahamas, that is elite-speak for "rich foreigners. So, Sands allowed 6 rich foreigners to return to the Bahamas after it was deemed unlawful to do so by the prime minister. He was turned in and Minnis fired him.
When explaining it in the interview, Sands said, “I believe that this was something that got away (i.e. got out of hand). This was
never intended to rise to this level and there was a certain
anticipated set of optics, that a letter of resignation is tendered,
it’s refused, it’s nice and tidy and we move on.”. There, simple as you please, Sands also admits that he expected Minnis to hold mock anger at this illegal act, give Sands a public hand slap while others following the laws are losing their business that they took decades to build up, and then for Minnis to turn down the resignation blah blah blah.
That is just how the good old boy system used to work. But those days are dead now. Those in lofty positions know that the sleepy sheeple herd has woken up and is wide awake. And they know that the herd now has jack shit else to do but watch everything that is going on. So the old nudge nudge wink wink no worky anymore.
It will be as true here in the US as it is in the Bahamas. People are people.
