Kyle Rittenhouse foolishly attended a night of looting and burning and property destruction. Not as a rioter or looter but as a self-appointed do gooder. He was there to do what he could to slow down the carnage and, if needed, provide medical assistance to people. Since he ended up killing two people and blowing an arm off a third guy, that whole "mission to help people" goal was missed pretty badly.
Be that as it may, his case will set very important precedent in gun opinion for the nation. He's about to finally go on trial and has been charged with 1st degree intentional homicide. But more importantly, he killed those people with an AR15 which is the devil itself to liberal fools like Alec Baldwin who don't know anything about guns.
It's interesting that they actually found a judge who seems sympathetic to Rittenhouse. Said judge has apparently disallowed the dead people and the guy who is missing an arm to be called "victims" but will allow them to be called by the actions which defined them that night which is rioters and looters. To me this is an overstep by the judge even though I think Rittenhouse acted in self defense. While language is important, it should be up to the defense to position the dead people as rioters, looters, and those who tried to hurt Rittenhouse which resulted in their untimely demise. And it should be the right of the prosecution to paint him as an unhinged emotional fool who watched too many Rambo movies.
Of course, this case is going to be tried in the court of public opinion as much as in the courts so that could account for this move by the judge. But it seems unusual both in the fact that it favors Rittenhouse and that we just don't see judges trying to control courtroom rhetoric like this very often.
