Boy Scouts signals that it is not going to be around in 15 years

While focusing on the actual peak of liberalism in the world and the beginning signs of pendulum swinging back toward conservatism, one thing I have neglected to mention is that with this swing is going to come structural changes.  Many of the institutions of the past will fade away into irrelevance as new ones do a better job of meeting the needs of the new conservative leaning herd mindset.

Boy Scouts leadership is clearly infected by radical liberalism. It is responding to the intense peer pressure which is attendant with the peak in liberalism for this cycle.   This Fox News article from earlier in the year points out that the acceptance of gay scout masters was the "surrender" to liberalism.  More recently, Newsmax reports on how Boy Scouts is now admitting girls into some of its activities.

Let me give you some personal insight on this.  For more than 25 years I have been taking boating trips to the Bahamas.  Sometimes it was on my own boat when I lived in SE Florida but after I moved to TX we used the bareboat charter market.  I would captain boats between 35 and 55 feet on trips that lasted 1 to 3 weeks.  These trips were a big deal for me and my friends and for some time they were exclusively "boy's trips".  These are not easy trips.  They are more like working vacations.  When you come back from them you are exhausted.  When on a bareboat charter, you essentially own the boat and all the financial and safety responsibility that goes with it.  That means there are no passengers, just captain and hard working crew.

When guys get together on something like this it builds a rare form of male camaraderie, a kind of watered down version of the bonding / brotherhood that men feel when going to battle together.  There is no sexual tension or competition.  If you want to wander out onto the back deck and take a leak off the side there is no concern of embarrassment, etc.  It might sound funny to read this but it is very real when living it.  And it is a special, rare thing.

On several occasions we did "couple's trips".  Those were never as fun as the boy's trips.  The women did not want to go fishing or do any of the dirty work of cleaning fish, etc. The wanted the men to cater to them and make them feel special. They would not dive the anchor.   They could not be counted on to man a fender for docking.  Having women on board was just was never the same.

At one point it became clear that the boy's trips were losing momentum with some of the guys simply not wanting to do the trip at all if there were women on board.  The women were never mean or angry (in fact quite the opposite) but through no fault of their own their presence simply threw a wet blanket on the concept of male bonding.  It is chemical, pheromones?  I don't know, but it got so bad that it threatened to kill the entire notion of the trips going forward.  In order to save the trips I had to address the women directly and let them know that it was either going to be no trips or boy's trips and no trips was not an option.  The women were not happy about it but they accepted it since all of their husbands were good providers and good men.  It was a battle that wasn't worth the fight anymore.

This lesson is going to be learned by the Boy Scouts the hard way.  I predict they will be slow to see the signs and too weak-spined  to take definitive action once they do.  Membership is not going to grow because of this "inclusive" attitude; it is going to tank.  That's because Boy Scouts is a place where boys should be able to be boys and learn the old ways of self sufficiency and survival without the obvious sexual distraction of women changing the dynamic.

Fools and idiots will accuse me of being "anti-women" or "non-inclusive" or some other liberal attack phrase but what I am is aware and rational in this matter.  I have nothing against women or gays but their presence will change the dynamic of male bonding and male bonding is what has kept Boy Scouts a part of our society for so many decades.

I predict that some members of Boy Scouts will say enough is too much and they will splinter off to form a new competing group.  Maybe they will call it Young Explorers.  The new group will simply do a better job of ignoring the liberal pressure and it will get back to the basics which made Boy Scouts Boy Scouts.

15 years from today I predict that Boy Scouts of America will be a broken shell of its former greatness.  When you see that, thank the liberals for making it happen.  Liberalism isn't bad, it's simply not appropriate everywhere and trying to force the agenda into all aspects of life is as likely to fail as driving an oversized square peg into an undersized round hole.
