You know, I was just watching Adele sing to NYC and of course she has an amazing soulful voice. But when she talks she sounds like someone from a trailer park at times. She says exactly what she is thinking, including the use of swear words. But instead of calling her out on that, she is idolized by her fans. Adele is Adele not because she is a smooth talking bullshitter but rather because she has real talent. While not ugly by any means, she is quite overweight which is not something you normally find in idols. The people are beginning to value function over form. Expect less glitz from Hollywood in the coming years and more substance.
OK, so maybe that is not the best example of my point. So I will also say that I am seeing more and more articles pop up that directly address the concept of political correctness in a definitely not politically correct manner. For example, here is one from Goldseek.com which quotes Harry Truman as telling Douglas MacArthur that, "Political
Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the
proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by
the clean end!"
Of course, the real world is quite dirty and only rich people (or a rich society) have the luxury of thinking like this. Put enough minions and servants between you and the dirty work and everything can be made to seem clean and refined. But minions and servants who are paid for with debt are temporary help. As the debt fueled prosperity wanes, fewer and fewer will be hypnotized by 50 cent words and sophistry, fake or thin skinned emotions and all the other trappings of political correctness. Going forward, it will matter more what you actually do in terns of societal and economic productivity than what you say or what you look like. Loser bureaucrats who have been running US companies into the ground will get swept aside by up and comers who channel Steve Jobs. Jobs didn't care about anything but actually doing new and useful stuff. If you didn't produce then you were not going to get far with him and he didn't mince words about that. Those who did produce quietly and quickly got rich.
This is the kind of thing I expect to see a lot more of as the pendulum swings back to conservatism.
Merry Christmas.
