In short, a TN judge decided that a straight couple could not be divorced under his jurisdiction because, after the supreme court ruling that said gay marriage must be legal in all states, he was no longer sure what, if any, jurisdiction he had left in the matter.
This judge publicly mocked the system and the supreme court. Mockery like this coming from authority figures is so damaging to the system because it sends powerful herd signals out which basically indicate that things are now so fucked up that it's all a joke. It indicates that people in power worry that rule of law is dead. Well, if they don't even believe in their system ("their system" because it sure as Hell is not the one I would put in place) then why should Mark and Patsy?
You see, in a herding society, many of the herd get used to just following the leader. Thinking takes energy and critical thinking is like working out with weights; it's very difficult to do if you have not done so in a long time. So if allowed to do so, a good portion of the herd will just lay back and let our "leaders" rape them blind and then cry bitterly later on after they wake up to find the damage that their own complacency and laziness cost them. That's why these seemingly little things just aren't so little. They are changing people's minds and in many cases causing people to wake up now that they perceive something to be wrong.
We are going to see some major societal changes over the next 10-15 years. I think the speed at which they play out will turn out to surprise many people.
