No man is an island, as the saying goes. We all do better as a team. 10 individuals will find it difficult for their 10 respective economic value additions to add up to that of a 10 person team. This is just economic fact. Some things are not just more difficult alone, they are impossible. Imagine if the job is to bolt two large pieces of steel together, each 8'x8' via a single hole drilled though the center of the two pieces of steel. Yes, it's a trivial example but one man cannot easily complete it because it takes a wrench on each side of the steel in order to complete the task and nobody's arms are 4' long. But two men find it trivial. Many problems are thus and all it takes is one such problem in the series of tasks needed to complete a goal for a one man project to come to a standstill.
The liberals take advantage of this truth with claims like those by Hillary that "It takes a village". While true on it's face, Hillary's idea of how this would work is by government mandate. If you are in the village, Hillary will sit on her big fat ass on a chair above everyone handing out orders which she expects everyone else to follow under penalty of law. In this way she can direct activities in such a way that she benefits in an outsized way. This is why morality and charity can never be institutionalized by government. If they are, someone is gaming it.
The conservatives know that teamwork is important too. When government is out of the picture this has traditionally been the role of the church and other private charitable activities. In the conservative model, those who have done well for themselves decide to give something back. Those who are willing and able to do so engage in charity of their own free volition as in this recent case.
Government has a function but we should not allow it to take on too big a role because as soon as you are not watching, human nature will turn it into a scam. We need small, focus government, not government of everything. Limited government, as Ron Paul has been saying for 3 decades now.
