In the past, something untoward would happen with respect to law enforcement and the elitist cops would go gather up all the videos and create a bonfire from them. Evidence destruction was the norm under liberal rules; "the end justifies the means" is a completely liberal concept which essentially says "rule of man trumps rule of law". The nannys who run the nanny state, after all, must know best.
In any case, after getting busted so many times covering up police brutality and stupidity by camera phone-toting citizens, it seems the city is being a bit quicker to release the video evidence than ever we have seen before. In years past, everything would be confidential due to ongoing investigation blah blah blah.
Not no more. Now even the liberal management of NYC is feeling the stiff breeze coming in and they are being affected by the new wave of conservatism that it is bringing. In today's evidence point of this fact is the stupid bust of a tennis star in some kind of trumped up credit card fraud bullshit sting. Seems there are not enough real criminals so the police think they need to waste taxpayer money trying to tempt people into criminal behavior so that cops can prove their need to society in the massive numbers of them which exist today. How else to justify the massive overtime bill that the citizens pay (hint: this will be under public attack real soon now according to my model).
The victim here, James Blake, was offered an apology by the department which he justifiably threw back in their faces as not being good enough. Here's how I see it. If I am standing on the street minding my own business and some big mofo comes running at me full speed and I know he is after me, my first inclination is to pull my nine and pump about 3 shots into him. That is, in fact, what a charging aggressor certainly deserves. But if the private citizen does this and someone is hurt besides the attacker, the citizen goes to jail. And if the attacker turns out to be undercover cop, the citizen goes to jail and might not survive the night.
So no, NYC, it is not good enough to offer an apology so that you can just do this same crap to the next poor slob that you happen to encounter. That cop should have by all rights been shot dead in his tracks. The fact that he still lives is pure luck that it was Blake instead of me standing on that corner. So, no, apology not accepted. You need to CHANGE your corrupt liberal police policies. That is the only acceptable action at this point. Stop trying to entrap everyone. Let people live their lives and perhaps you will then have enough bandwidth to actually be on a crime scene in time to actually do some good. The only thing cops are any good for these days to the private citizen is to do the paperwork after crime already happened. Oh, and they are also adept at shooting the guy who called 911. It happens all the time.
Mark my works, NYC, less and less people are going to fear you in the coming years. They will begin defending themselves against this kind of bullshit "police work". You have been warned.
