Texas CHL holders about to be allowed to openly carry handguns.

Greg Abbott, TX governor, has been a gun rights advocate for a long time. Now that he is the gov of TX it was pretty much a done deal that open carry would pass.  We now have it passed though the TX house and senate and now it will be signed into law by Abbott.

One shitty concession that apparently had to be made was to give cops the right to ask for papers of anyone openly carrying.  This is freaking stupid.  It just gives cops the right to see what trouble they can drum up for law abiding citizens who simply want the world to understand "Don't tread on me".  Crooks won't be displaying their sidearms openly.

There is no real freedom until we completely do away with all the licensing and paperwork associated with owning and carrying handguns.  None of that deters criminals from owning and carrying.  Still, this is a big step forward for Texas because while the big land masses here are owned by conservatives, Austin (where the laws are made) is a virtual viper's den of liberal bullshit.  So to have crammed open carry down Austin's throat sideways is another good sign that the conservatives are gaining power.
