I suppose you might have seen the news story about the mayor of Houston, one Annise Parker (Annise?? Really? Why do so many of these liberals have Buckaroo Banzai-esque last names?), who tried to use force of law in order to get Houston based pastors to turn in their speechs and communications having to do with "homosexuality or the contentious equal rights ordinance".
The city is under assault by the new and growing conservative clan for its liberal support of homosexuality and it tried to use the opportunity to get all the pastors to essentially register themselves as homo haters. Of course, the next step after that would be to use even more force of law to penalize the clergy with fines, legal sanctions, etc.
Well, as usual, these kinds of tyrannical tactics work when it is many on one as in the case of the baker who would not create a wedding cake for a gay couple. The political correctness police actually fined that business $150k. Which is to say, the baker's entire business was threatened over some stupid ass political correctness game. Either the baker worked for people she didn't want to or she had to go out of business according to the liberal elite. Of course, they used to call that slavery. I still do.
In any case, while many on one tactics generally work, many on many do not. We saw this during the mini revolution at the Bundy ranch where 200 federal employees armed with assault rifles, helicopters and all the other fun toys that our money can buy for them got their asses kicked off of Bundy's land without any cattle in hand. And, despite whining from liberal asshole Harry Reid who said "this isn't over", yes it is in fact over.
In the case of the "Houston Annise", she tried to take on 400 pastors at once and that was just too big a mouthful of trouble to bite off what with the pendulum swinging away from her side the way it is doing. Once the story got out, she caught a shit storm over the move including a strongly worded public letter from Peter Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights essentially telling her what an idiot she is.
And so there you have, it, the law of diminished returns as applied to the dying liberal agenda. You can get away with a little and so that tempts you to do a bit more and that success tempts you to go a bit further and you repeat this until too many people don't like it and say "I will not comply".
And then it's over just as quickly as it began. The big scary liberal agenda pisses itself out like a tempest in a tea cup just as soon as the herd has had enough of it. The government does not control the people. It can appear for a long while that it does but at some point too many in the herd stop running and hiding and instead stand up for themselves. The fear goes away. If the government has disarmed the people, then government can begin smashing people in the face with rifle butts. But in a country like the USA where there is a "gun behind every blade of grass", that is just not possible. And government knows it is not possible. Furthermore, if government forgets it is not possible and tries it anyway then it will become open season on them.
Wake up government. Game over. Liberal Maryland democrats are already walking out on Obama's speeches as soon as the jerk starts talking. Soon they will be listening intently to conservative groups like the self named "good guys" over at the NRA.
