The WSJ put out an article today entitled Smaller Restaurants Welcome Gun Owners. Read it if you like but the headline used in conjunction with an influential media name brand like WSJ is all that really matters to my point. It depicts normal, down to Earth work-a-day folks (AKA conservatives) going out for pizza and burgers with heavy metal on their hips. The key photo even shows a young woman - you know, those people who are supposed to be afraid of guns and just all aflutter if anyone even mentions them in polite company - serving food with what appears to be a S+W revolver ready on the draw.
All of this pro-gun stuff is meant to send a message to the establishment: not everyone is a peacenik coward (i.e. peace at any cost, including getting killed in order to keep someone else's concept of "the peace"...). Some, in fact, many of us will not be tread upon. It's a celebration of the invention that truly made people who must be free from tyranny actually be free from it. Others who actually like the nanny state because they seem to be getting something for nothing hate it because it limits how much "spreading around" of other people's stored labor (AKA money AKA property) government can do.
I've said it before, I will say it again: no government can ignore the will of a well armed populace. It just cannot happen. This is because you can take down a few people with guns but at some point you end up with a Bundy ranch standoff - you know - that one where the government sent in 200 fully armed agents, 100 vehicles and even a helicopter only to be met with 2000 militia, many of whom were just as well armed and likely more proficient than the BLM floozies that were herded into stealing the Bundy cattle. The BLM had to pack up and leave without getting any cattle or any concessions of any kind. Don't go away mad, just go away.
After it was done, corrupt liberal nannycrat Harry Reid (who had a dog in the fight in the form of a $5b deal with a Chinese company for building a solar farm where the cattle were grazing) said "it's not over". Yes, Harry, it's over. If you try it again then there will be 5000 militia this time and you just don't want to know what will happen to your little BLM SWAT force if either side decides to open fire in that event. you and people like you are on the outs, Reid. You will not see another term in office after this fiasco. This is the real message that is being sent by increasingly large numbers of gun toting citizens living their daily lives.
Captain,
ReplyDeleteI'm an NFL fan and have been somewhat following the stories on the pressure Redskin's owner Daniel Snyder has been getting to change the team's name. I assume you would be betting that ultimately the PC pressure caves and Redskins remain as is. An interesting case to follow though to go along with your thoughts that the liberal pendulum has begun to swing the other way.

Your comment is spot on.
ReplyDeleteThe Redskins thing is a ridiculous contrived act of desperation by the PC crowd who are clutching at straws to remain relevant as they prance around in the public limelight trying to control what other people say and do. This is a shark jumping moment for the PC crowd.
Redskins name will stand IMO. 2 years ago I think the PC "socialista" nanny state lovers might have had a chance but at the time there was so much low hanging fruit that Redskins was the last thing on their mind.
Before this crash is through I think the next Michael Vick will be able to hold public dogfights with the crowd cheering the action on and the PC crowd muttering to themselves but saying nothing out of fear of being thrown in the ring bodily. Like I said, not all of it will be positive in nature...
