All of a sudden, Congress wants to stop turning a blind eye.

All this time goes by from Benghazi and we get nothing.  Now, seemingly suddenly, the corruption and cover up iron is back in the fire as Gowdy says he has evidence of a cover up.  The appointment of a select committee now means they are serious about exposing at least part of what happened there.  I'm not saying we will hear the full truth but members of Congress are now afraid enough for their own personal jobs (and other) security that they are going to have to roll some heads.

Again, the timing perfectly jibes with what I thought it would be as the credit Ponzi breaks down and the criminal cartels that were profiting from it in government begin to rat each other out in an attempt to play "last man standing" with the American people.  The movies show us how it's going to be.  Take Waterworld with Kevin Costner many years ago.  At one point, "The Deacon" (played by Dennis Hopper), was questioning two captives about the location of a girl who had a map tattooed onto her back.  His deal was simple: first guy to talk would not be shot (at least not by Hopper himself).  Faced with this simple choice, honor among thieves evaporated quickly as one of them started spilling his guts.

Funny as you may think that sounds, this is exactly what the criminals are facing.  The jig is up and now the whole corrupt shooting match has to unravel somehow.  It will either be orderly or disorderly.  But I do know that those who promise the American people the most benefits from the collapse in terms of truth and freedom from further corruption are going to be the immediate winners while those that try to hang onto the corruption which has gotten them this far in the game are going to get screwed.  Another useful analogy relates to trading stocks.  If you know that markets go up and down, corruption waxes and wanes, the smart money doesn't fall in love with either side.  Instead, it is always looking for the major turns.  I think there are four basic type of cartel players:
  • The totally corrupt idiots.
    • These guys are simply dirt.  These leopards cannot change their spots.  They are completely corrupt and that is all they will ever be.   When the hammer of real justice comes down, it will hit them the hardest.
  • The totally corrupt smart people.
    • These guys are dirty and they cannot go straight.  Too many skeletons in the closet.  But they know when to retire and distance themselves from their corrupt pasts so that they are not targeted when the corruption comes under fire.  Look around in the news.  If you see congressmen with 20 years of "service" deciding to retire to spend more time with family or to go work on their favorite charity then you can be sure you are looking at the smart criminals fleeing the scene of the crime.
  • The partially corrupt smart people.
    • These guys didn't really want to be corrupt but they felt they had to go along to get along.  They never really cashed in big but neither did they do anything to stop their corrupt co-conspirators from cashing in on the sleepiness of the herd.  These guys will see the turn coming and they will flip from effectively shorting the American people to going long America.  These guys will be leading the charge on scapegoating those who are not fast enough to avoid a head roll.
  • The honest minority.  These guys never got anywhere before in politics because they would not go along with the scams.  They will probably not get their fair credit when the mood flips the other way because they are not the loudest voice in the crowd.  They never were that good at selling themselves.  So they will do well in the new environment but probably not be the big leaders.
